As one example, Eye Media Australia was commissioned by National Australia Bank to conduct an audit of Lotus Notes applications and mail, prioritise the organisation value of each of more than 700 database applications, and then propose methods for their migration to alternative platforms. A key aspect of this project was the Business Analysis to define the relative organisational value of each of these 700 applications. This analysis included gathering data from usage records, stakeholder surveys and interviews as well as determining the contributions of each application to the organisations activities and goals. This data was then analysed to develop an audit matrix of the 'organisational value' of each of the 700 applications. This was then coupled with analysis by Eye Media of the relative complexity to redevelop each application on Microsoft platforms. The results of this analysis project was a fully researched plan for management to determine the priorities, timescales and costs of migration to a new corporate applications platform.
